The feedback period on the G20 Financial Stability Board’s (FSB) consultation on the impact of financial market regulation since 2008 on securitisations (see TSI kompakt of 30 August 2023) ended on 22 September. TSI submitted a statement together with Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft (DK).
The statement addressed the following points in particular:
- Recalibration of capital requirements
- Effects of the introduction of an output floor§ Level playing field across jurisdictions and products
- Due diligence and transparency requirements
- SRT process
- Treatments of securitisations in the LCR
The statement thus points to the barriers and potential improvements arising from regulation, which TSI and DK believe are most essential for the development of the securitisation market.
Next steps
The FSB would like to influence the Basel process to enforce globally uniform standards for securitisations. We consider the consultation as a prelude to a desirable policy discussion on the reform of the global as well as the European securitisation framework. We thank you for your suggestions.
